What You Can Do

Report Child Abuse

Child abuse includes physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or exploitation that threatens a child’s safety and well-being. Recognizing the warning signs can help protect a child and connect families to support and resources.

If a child is in danger, call 911 immediately

If you suspect abuse or neglect, report it immediately. You do not need proof; reasonable suspicion is enough.

Filing a Report

Include

  • The child’s name and location

  • The parents’ names and address

  • Your name and the name of your agency, organization, or school

  • A clear and concise description of the abuse and neglect with as many specific details as possible

If a Child Discloses Abuse:

  • Stay calm and listen

  • Reassure the child

  • Do not blame or pressure them

  • Seek medical attention if needed

  • Report the abuse to authorities
